Most of what goes wrong with camper accessories is a fitment problem rather than a product problem. Before ordering, confirm the vehicle make, model year and body variant, because a Ducato, Transit or Sprinter changes body length, roof height and panel shape between generations, and a part cut for one will not sit correctly on another.

For anything mounted through the bodywork — windows, roof vents, hatches, air conditioners — the panel thickness and the position of internal ribs and wiring matter as much as the external dimensions. For roof-mounted equipment, check the load rating and the finished height, since a raised roof or an added unit can put you over the clearance of car parks, ferries and your own garage.

A window, a roof hatch or an air conditioner means cutting a hole in a watertight steel shell. Done properly, the opening is sealed, treated against corrosion and finished so the panel keeps its strength. Done badly, it leaks, and water in a camper does not stay where it entered — it travels through the insulation and shows up as damp and rot somewhere else months later.

Electrical work carries the same distinction. Cooling units, compressors and inverters draw meaningful current, and cable sizing, fusing and where the circuit is taken from decide whether the installation is safe and whether it will still work in two years.

It is also worth knowing that changes to a vehicle can affect its insurance and its EU-kontroll. Fitted work that is documented and done to standard is far easier to account for than work nobody can vouch for.

We supply and install equipment from established European camper and cooling manufacturers rather than the cheapest available equivalent. The practical reason is spare parts: a unit from a manufacturer with a European service network can be repaired in five years, while an unbranded equivalent usually cannot, and a cooling or heating unit that cannot be repaired is a write-off rather than a repair bill.
